Pure Luster, Undivided

Sometimes the most striking pieces are the simplest. This Japanese lusterware plate lets the glaze do all the talking — a rich, uninterrupted honey-amber iridescent finish that glows warmly in any light, finished with a delicate gold rim. No central motif competes for attention; the shimmering luster is the art.

Marked "Made in Japan" on the base, this plate dates to the post-1921 export era when Japanese potters were producing lusterware at the height of its popularity for the American and European markets. The warm amber tone is one of the most sought-after colorways in Japanese lusterware collecting.

This plate pairs beautifully with the matching Japanese lusterware plate with wildflower decoration also available in our shop, and may well be from the same original set.
